I. Organizers
1. Peking University Institute for Global Health and Development (GHD)
Established in 2020 under the leadership of founding Dean Professor Gordon Liu, Peking University BOYA Distinguished Professor and Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, GHD (www.ghd.pku.edu.cn) serves as a cross-disciplinary research entity at Peking University. It integrates expertise in health economics, healthcare systems, international relations, and climate-environment studies to address global health challenges through the lens of human development. Guided by the principle of "One World, One Health," GHD advances scientific research, talent development, international collaboration, and industry-academia partnerships to foster solutions for critical health issues and promote China’s role in global health governance.
2. Yale Center Beijing (YCB)
Yale Center Beijing (YCB) opened on October 27, 2014. As the only such center Yale University has opened outside of its campus, YCB advances Yale University's fundamental dedication to developing leaders from all sectors of society and all regions of the globe.
By leveraging Yale's wealth of resources as a global research university and its historically strong ties to China, the Center aims to further constructive dialogue about pressing issues and the forthright exchange of ideas and knowledge among decision-makers and thought leaders.
The Center, which is housed in a 16,500-square-foot space in Chaoyang District of Beijing, enables the University to expand existing activities and form new partnerships in China, supports research and study from each of the University's schools and divisions, and serves as a gathering place for alumni from throughout Asia.
II. Program Overview
The PKU-Yale 2025 "Digital Health" Economics Summer School, now in its third edition, offers a week-long immersive learning experience for outstanding young scholars in global health, health economics, and health policy. Hosted at Peking University from June 16–21, 2025 (opening ceremony on June 16), the program will feature lectures by leading scholars from Peking University, Yale University, and other global institutions, interactive sessions with faculty and peers, and academic networking opportunities.
The program is open to junior and senior undergraduates, as well as master’s students worldwide with backgrounds in economics, public health, data science, or related fields. A total of 20–25 participants will be selected. Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and meals, while insurance will be provided by the organizers.
Outstanding participants may receive priority consideration for the 2026 PhD program at the PKU Institute for Global Health and Development, eligibility for the Peking University Young Scholars Award in Global Health Development, and the opportunity to apply for the Peking University Young Health Economics Research Fellowship, which supports 1–2 years of advanced study at the China Center for Health Economic Research. III. Eligibility Criteria
1. Responsible, self-motivated, and with a good attitude towards academic work.
2. Third- or fourth-year undergraduates, or master’s students from universities in China or abroad.
3. Background in economics, public health, data science, or related fields; demonstrated research interest.
4. Proficient in English for academic research, writing, and communication.
IV. Application Materials

3. Personal Statement (3–4 pages): Academic background, research experience, and future goals.
4. English Proficiency Proof: CET-4/6, TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent.
5. Supplementary Materials: Research papers (including working papers), awards, or certificates.
V. Application Process

Applications without a properly formatted and complete PDF uploaded in the questionnaire will be considered invalid. The application period is from April 11 to May 20 (inclusive).
VI. Selection & Notification
A dedicated selection committee, composed of faculty from Peking University and Yale University, will review all application materials and make admission decisions for the summer program. Applicants who are accepted will receive an email notification by May 30. The final list of participants will also be posted on the website of the Peking University Institute for Global Health and Development. Due to the high volume of applications, we will not be able to notify those who are not selected individually.
